Two-Day Workshop on ‘Ecological Literacy Symposium’ by Amritsar Law College
Amritsar Law College (ALC), following the directions of the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh, and the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, conducted a Two-Day Workshop on ‘Ecological Literacy Symposium’ on May 3–4, 2024. The workshop was organized by Ms. Ravreet Sandhu, in charge of the Eco-Club at ALC.
The first day of the workshop commenced with a speech by Dr. Avon Kumar Vaid, Principal of ALC, who welcomed the esteemed resource person, Dr. Bharat, Associate Professor, University Institute of Legal Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Vaid shed light on the importance of Sustainable Development Goals in the present scenario, followed by a pledge for environmental protection. Dr. Bharat highlighted the issues related to environmental change and advocated for sustainable practices, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a green and clean India.
In the second half of the first day, a Declamation competition on the topic ‘Role and Implications of Environment Laws’ was organized. The winners of the declamation competition were: First Position — Mr. Anshuman Sharma; Second Position — Ms. Gurpreet Kaur; and Third Position — Mr. Adab Punj and Mr. Prashant Chaudhary.
The second day of the workshop commenced with a tree plantation ceremony by the students of the Eco-Club, ALC, and the resource person. After lunch, a Poster-Making Competition on Environmental Protection was held. The winners of the competition were: Winner — Ms. Gaganpreet Kaur; and Runner-Up — Gurpal Singh.
ALC students organized Quiz competitions and environment-related question-and-answer games.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session to felicitate Dr. Bharat for his valuable insights and initiative to protect the environment. Dr. Avon Kumar Vaid, Principal of ALC, extended heartfelt gratitude to the College Management for their continuous support, appreciated the students for their efforts, and appreciated Ms. Ravreet Sandhu for her efforts.
